How will my vet help?
When your vet is choosing how to treat your dog, lots of different things will be taken into account including:
- The severity of your dog's itching
- Whether it gets worse at particular times of the year
- How your dog is likely to tolerate treatments such as bathing
- The cost of treatment
- Possible side effects of a treatment
There are many treatment types and they work in different ways for different dogs. It may take several weeks before your vet finds the right one for you and your dog so it's important to remember that a lot can be done to make your dog feel comfortable again.
